It’s Friday night, and you had a rough week. Your friends are calling and texting you asking for you to come hang out, but you really aren’t feeling it. Even though you don’t want to go out, you still need some stimulation. So what do you do? Turn on some porn. Don’t act like you haven’t been there; we’ve all done it.
Porn is a one-stop sexual fantasy shop, full of whatever you like to watch. Are you into midgets? No problem, there’s a porn for that. How about BDSM? The Internet is full of videos.

Former porn star and pioneer Ela Darling co-created a virtual reality webcam program called Cam4VR, which she discusses in the video above. This would make Darling and her partner the first people to create something on this level. They were able to develop 3D versions of performers and place them in a rendered environment. People would have the ability to place themselves into the scene and interact with the performer. What makes this program truly special is how realistic the interactions are. In real life, if you approach a person and are too sexually aggressive, there’s a good chance they’ll reject you. The same is true for this program.
I appreciate them for building this response into the software, because I can see people getting carried away with how they treat a VR person. Just think about how people are on any social media platform. Many get out of control in the comment section on YouTube and Instagram. A safety net will always be necessary, especially when it comes to sex.
Sex Robots
Another technological advancement to watch out for is the development of sex robots. RealDoll is currently in the process of creating a female sex robot with artificial intelligence, according to Breitbart. The robot will be able to have a conversation with you, remember small details about your life and of course… have sex with you whenever. Sounds great right? That’s like every man’s dream come true. All they have to do is create a software that will give her the ability to cook, and that’s it for real women.
I’m kidding, but seriously who doesn’t want a yes man in their corner? When sex dolls become more available to the public, I can see a lot of men turning to them. This could be their chance to finally try things that real women will not do. Oh, but don’t worry ladies: RealDoll also has male sex robots in the works. His development may take a little longer since they have to figure out how to keep him going like the energizer bunny

There is no denying that porn will always and forever be around for people to enjoy. It’s one of those things that take you away from your reality and make you feel that you could be the sexual dynamo that’s on your computer screen. I am a huge fan of porn; but I’m worried about the industry’s current direction. It’s great we can apply something as innovative as virtual reality and robotics to the sex industry. But when does it stop?
I read an article that talked about a Chinese engineer who married one of his sex robots, because he was tired of human dating. He claimed that it’s difficult to find people who will actually really listen and talk with you. While I agree that it is getting more challenging finding people worth your time, I also can’t deny that technology has a hand in why that’s the case. There’s this set of pictures out showing what people look like when their cell phone is not in their hands. It’s intriguing yet very sad at the same time. In one picture, there was a couple sitting at a dinner table and both of them were looking down. The people were right in front of each other, yet they were too wrapped up in their phones to really enjoy each other.

So, this leaves me with one last question. What does the future of the sex industry look like? We can now place ourselves in a fantasy environment and interact with porn stars, be it sexually or just to talk. They are in the process of creating sex robots that not only have artificial intelligence, but are ambulatory. Can you imagine walking down the street and seeing a person walking with their sex robot? If you’ve ever seen the movie Surrogates, I think that’s what we’re headed for. We’ll be living in a world where people would much rather have the fantasy then live a real life. I guess I should get my popcorn ready, because this should be interesting.
