Difference between 2D and 3D
Sound effects(henceforth referred to as SFX) in 2D are a standard in that industry. You’ll be hard pressed to find a single 2D comic that doesn’t have a single “Bang” or a “Wham”. The reason for this is that they simply fit. 2D text in a 2D comic? It’s a match made in the deepest forges of hell. It enhances the scene by giving you audio feedback without the audio and makes sure the artist doesn’t have to worry about such pesky things as consistent backgrounds because all that will be filled with SFX anyway. A win-win for everyone.
Enter 3D. Things are different in 3D because, and this may shock you, 3D has depth. With the third dimension comes a ton of problems. A 2D word that so nicely complimented the 2D comic no longer does the same for 3D, it often does the opposite because placing anything 2D on a 3D image suddenly threatens to destroy depth itself (Oh, the humanity). The reason being a mere spec of 2D is often enough to compromise 3D as a whole. Take, for instance, having some lint or those strange creatures that roam the eye on your eye, anything that’s flat on your eye immediately plays havoc with your depth perception. Same thing happens in 3D images, as the 2D object is considered right there on what the eye perceives as the “surface” of the image, everything behind that surface becomes compromised. Which is why…
I hate SFX!
This is coming from me as a 3D content maker. I hate sound effects. They are the last thing in my workflow, after postwork and even after writing, because every single time I finish a comic I come upon a decision if I’m going to include them in the comic at all. If I implement them I may add a certain something to the narration but if I don’t the images stay clean and easier to consume so what to do? Well, what I do is try and blend them to whatever may be causing the audio feedback in the comic, let’s say ejaculations, I’d blend the “spurt/splat” with the texture of cum and make it look like the words are being formed by it. I call this 3D blending. I think this may work well but…
I DON’T KNOW!
The problem is when you create a comic, you relinquish the ability to consume the same comic from a consumer standpoint. All you see are techniques you’ve used, techniques you could have used, faults with poses, texture problems and many, many other things, none of which are actual enjoyment. Placing yourself in the position of someone consuming your comic is difficult at best and impossible if you’re very critical of your own work, which most of us are. This problem doesn’t affect scenes, motions, models, sex etc. because you know how those are supposed to look and can look at them from a single module perspective, so you’d see the sex position as nothing but the sex position and would know if it’s good or not. The whole thing is very technical. Unfortunately, this does not apply to SFX because their purpose is strange. I know what SFX goes where and how to make it “look good” in the picture but its purpose is not visual, so the technical aspects of it are not important in a comic. This is because the audio feedback the user needs to imagine is in their head instead of in my comic. So how to know if SFX is doing its job or not?

I like SFX.
You see, I may hate it from a standpoint of somebody that uses it but I like it from a consumer standpoint. When I read comics, 3D or otherwise, I find the SFX is often quite helpful. I don’t think I actually see it at all. Its a cue that lets me know that that particular sound is being made in that particular scene. Like when I read a book, I no longer see the words because they become “source code” for the movie that’s playing in my head. Same with SFX, it triggers a noise in my imagination and then I move on. So, taking that into account, I can’t help but wonder if its position and format are important at all. Would its job be done even if it was just a simple white word in the general area of the place that’s making the noise? Probably…
…but at what cost?
The noise would happen in my head, the job of the SFX would be accomplished, it could fill out its 401k and eventually retire in a villa on the South of France satisfied with its accomplishment. However, this is a visual media, so while it did do its job of providing audio feedback it’s still visually there. Like a plumber that unclogs your drain and then just sits on your sofa and eats your biscuits like a dick. Screw you, Steve. You can see the word when you consume the visual aspect of the media and that word influences that aspect even though it shouldn’t, as its job is to provide something you can not see. So, when you just go and look at the picture, you no longer just see what is happening in that picture but you also see this word, this word that has no place in that picture because you’re not supposed to see it, just hear it-BUT HOW DO YOU HEAR IT WITHOUT SEEING IT IN THE COMIC?!
Told you there were boobs in the picture.
So what to do?
Well, there are three things that can be done in a comic without compromising its comic status, so no actual audio files accompanying it or making it a motion comic so the SFX fades out.
2D blend. You just write out the sound, put it in a colour that’s similar to whatever it is you’re trying to add the SFX to. Maybe a small stroke or a bend. That’s it.
3D blend. You basically convert the text into whatever the effect of the sound is. So basically place it into the 3D world of the comic. Make it part of the environment itself. This is a heavy blend that makes the word hard to read as it becomes part of whatever action it describes.
Nothing. Not a damn thing. I think many years of comics, movies etc. have trained people enough that they can just produce their own onomatopoeia without actually seeing the trigger word. This would be the best thing for us as it would ensure the visual media doesn’t suffer at all while you can still hear everything that’s happening. A nice idea, but is it true? While the years of hearing and seeing onomatopoeia have trained us to hear it without the trigger word, it also trained us to expect trigger words. So seeing someone shout in a comic or a bomb going off without the SFX may make it look…weird. You may still hear the sound but the absence of the trigger word may give you pause.
You could expand the 3D bland, make an actual 3D rendered text and place it in the picture but that would basically shatter the fourth wall like a wrecking ball. May work well in a comedy comic though.
SFX is something of an ongoing problem with 3DX comics. Not just SFX but any 2D elements, such as speech bubbles and speech itself, we still don’t have a uniform way of implementing those things into our work. That’s why most of us do something different. Not trying to be unique as much as just trying to see what works.

Now this was quite an interesting read. For me, out of all the erotic doujins I’ve read, it’s hard to come by a 200+ page story that keeps me engaged. Toguchi Masaya definitely kept my attention with this enticing work through his detailed art and immersive dialogue. Truly this story touched base on a variety of fetishes that resonates with its readers. Toguchi’s writing style accompanied with the scenes he portrays could definitely bring out the inner masochist.
It begins with our lovely ladies “educating” younger cherry boys. Through our herbivore of a protagonist Yoshinori, it is revealed by the whispers of his classmates that a secret social networking site exists that allows members to date older women for free. The only requirement is that a member must be a virgin. He was positive that such a site was just an urban legend made by teenage boys exaggerating how they lost their v-cards, but domineering woman mounting him contradicts his claim.

Another one of Kai Hiroyuki’s works! This one almost took the number one spot with its storyline alone. Pregnancy Diary is a slice of life story focused on Jun Inaba, a city boy dead set on staying home despite his parents working overseas. Instead of going with them, he reached an agreement to live with his grandfather in the countryside. Old habits die hard for city-folk and our hero definitely had to complain about until he laid eyes on one of the villagers harvesting vegetables. With a nudge from the old man, Jun reluctantly agreed to help the woman with her chores and the reward he received was more than he anticipated. Within half a day living on the countryside, Jun already became a man.
The story is written with a balance that incites arousal and laughter. Some scenes are just downright hilarious watching old man Inaba covertly set up his grandson for sex with the women of the village. I highly enjoyed reading this and I believe you will too.
1. Together with Akiko-san
There’s a reason why I’ve ranked this erotic series of Kanon doujins as number one. Mitarashi Kousei’s Together with Akiko-san series is probably one of the best fan-made stories I’ve ever read. That may sound biased, but I honestly enjoy reading his works and I suggest you do the same. Mitarashi doesn’t just make porn; he writes stories that touch your heart. If you’re a fan of vanilla doujinshi, then Mitarashi-sensei’s works will definitely give you that “feel good” vibe for each chapter.
The story focuses on the romance between Yuuichi and his aunt Akiko. It’s a slice of life tale of their love and how they overcome the obstacles that life throws their way. The way this artist portrays these already existing characters stays true to their personalities while creating a story of his own. It’s a refreshing change of pace reading this series. You’ll laugh, you’ll fap, and you’ll find Akiko downright adorable as she is sexy. I guarantee Mitarashi’s works will put a smile on your face.

As a hentai enthusiast, I’ve had more than my fair share of coming across “click bait” when it comes to broadening my horizons. Once again I’ve found myself baited when I saw the cover of Kotobuki Kazuki’s Enraptured Make Love story. This original work is a collection of short stories abundant with heroines for you oppai fans out there. Kazuki illustrates a 192 page read of busty love making fun that’s sure to tickle your lingerie fetish. I’ll admit, when I saw his enticing title page of one of the many lovely heroines that appear in this story, it was enough to pique my interest and give this story a read.
The Story
As I’ve mentioned before, Kazuki’s work is actually a compilation of feel good short stories rolled into one big one. Each chapter is a tale you’ve most likely seen before, but that doesn’t mean it’s far from enjoyable.
Right off the bat it starts off with a fully colored sex scene of a once pure-hearted woman who’s addicted to her lover’s cock. It’s a short chapter, but it’s enough to pull you in. Shortly after, the next chapter is a tale of Hideya, a college graduate down on his luck after being shut down from the job he had his future set on. He resolves to become a shut-in as his way of rejecting his rejection much to his mother’s annoyance, but his depression wavers when she sends him on an errand to drop off food to his former tutor’s house.
Hideya recalls a time when he studied under Amagashi. It’s a comedic flashback of teenager who can’t help but ogle his curvaceous instructor’s large breasts. As a punishment, she increases his curriculum. It was thanks to Amagishi’s strict tutoring that Hideya was able to go to college. Their past encounter is as funny as it is cute. He begins to wonder if she’s back home after remembering she eloped before he could thank her for helping him pass the entrance exam. To his surprise, his old teacher answered the door.
The two reconnect as Amagishi admits that marrying her ex-husband was a mistake. She openly pokes fun at Hideya’s “bad” habit of staring at her breasts to turn a dismal conversation into a funny one. She apologizes to our protagonist for not getting him a congratulatory present for getting into college to which he slyly confesses that he doesn’t want a present, he’d rather have her. Their relationship begins to escalate to a line that transcends beyond teacher and student.
After their romantic encounter Amagishi encourages Hideya to keep his head up about finding a new job. Hideya still feels discouraged about his career path, but his lover tells him she’s still not satisfied with the “present” she gave him. She seductively suggests that if he gets a job his next present will be amazing. This proves to be all the motivation he’ll need.
The remaining chapters in Kotobuki Kazuki’s compilation have scenarios that make up your typical love story. They range from late night studying between classmates, a reunion of childhood friends, to my favorite type, office romance. You may have seen these genres time and again, but Kazuki’s humorous writing style that makes the dialogue much more entertaining.
The Girls/Characters
I’m not a betting man, but I’m willing to wager that Kazuki-sensei has a thing for large breasts and he isn’t afraid to show it. The entire book is full of busty beauties complete with their own charms that’ll make you keep the pages turning. I’d say the only drawback is the fact their body types are the same. The only differences they have are their faces and height. It just may be me being picky, but I enjoy seeing ladies of all sizes in my hentai.

As I’ve mentioned before, Kazuki’s characters all share the same well-endowed body designs only showing differences in their faces and personalities, but the same thing applies to his male characters as well. If it weren’t for their names it would’ve been possible to mix a few protagonists up due to their striking similarities. His art style is quite similar to the hentai of the past and by that I’m referring to the classic drawings of big breasted women with big anime eyes.
I’ve got nothing against it. To me, it’s as if he’s paying homage to the culture’s past. I’d say one of Kazuki-sensei’s most selling points with his erotic works is his detail to lingerie. This detail might be uninteresting for some but for those who enjoy seeing what’s underneath the clothes of a strict supervisor, his captivating detail puts the imaginative mind at ease. Kazuki illustrates lingerie in a style that seductively hugs its wearer in all the right places. If you have an appreciation for risqué undergarments, then Kotobuki Kazuki’s art is the one for you.
Long-Term Value
Honestly, I’ve enjoyed reading this a lot more than I thought I would. It’s a collection of feel good romances that’ll tickle your vanilla fancy and give you a chuckle as you read it. You may have seen the cliché romantic scenarios before, but it wouldn’t hurt to read them again under another author’s interpretation. Overall, I’d say Enraptured Make Love is one of those stories I’ve enjoyed reading once. I’m not saying it’s bad at all because I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it, but it feels like it was missing one last hook to keep me reading it over and over again. Since I’ve taken a liking to Kazuki’s storytelling and his artwork of sexy panties, I’ll be looking forward to reading more of his works in the future.

No matter how much 3DX work there is available, or how much I personally view on a daily basis, I always love to see a simple pose of a beautiful character. With all the amazing things that can be done with 3D art, it can become hard to appreciate the fact that an image, like the one above, can take just as much work and dedication to make sure it looks as good as this. The attention to the slight details of her facial expression, knowledge of the different materials needed for her skin, experimenting with lights…so much to think about. However, when the end result was this image, I am sure the artist, Guhzcoituz, was very pleased.

THE STORY

THE GIRLS/CHARACTERS
It all starts with Kululu. She’s a buxom cock hungry demon with a bubbly personality. As per orders from the Demon World she is to undergo training to become a full-fledged demon and has chosen our virgin protagonist as her master. She’s very straightforward with what she wants and wastes no time pleasuring her beloved master whenever she’s in the mood. She’s very open-minded at the idea of sharing Kazuki with her sister and Ouka.

Lastly, there’s Lia, Kululu’s younger sister. She’s the complete opposite of her sister, she’s bratty and arrogant. She also despises Kazuki for taking her sister away. Lia is the cunning one of the bunch seeing how she is constantly devising plans to draw Kazuki away from Kululu. Lia went as far to make an attempt to mold Kazuki to be her manservant, but that plan quickly backfired after succumbing to the waves of pleasure she received from him. She tags along under the pretense of watching over her big sister, but it’s an obvious lie.

I found Kazuki to be an enjoyable protagonist as well. He’s probably more of a demon than the succubi he pleasures in regards to his latent aggressive nature. One thing’s for sure, he has nigh infinite stamina. It’s a refreshing change of pace to see a harem protagonist with some backbone. Out of all the doujinshi I’ve read in this genre, the lead is usually wishy-washy, but that’s not the case with Kazuki. He just does what he wants despite how outrageous a situation is presented in front of him. His dialogue and the way he carries himself makes him more than a comedic relief which makes the story much more fulfilling.
ART
Once again Arsenal-sensei delivers with his stimulating art style. Devil Cherry Pie presents its readers with lovely heroines of diverse sizes that carry their own charm. Kululu embodies what I believe to be the ideal succubus. She’s designed with a revealing outfit that compliments her voluptuous body. Ouka is more of the athletic type with a balanced figure. As for Lia, her bust maybe smaller compared to her sister’s, but she makes up for it with her ass and technique.
After reading this, I’d wager that Arsenal had the ass fans in mind when he created this erotica. Throughout the story there are gravure panels accentuating the beauty of these asses. From panty shots to anal, Arsenal-sensei put a great amount of detail to make this a pleasurable reading experience. Aside from his talent at portraying eroticism, there’s also his trademark quips he adds that will guarantee to make you laugh at the hilariously absurd situations our characters find themselves in.
LONG-TERM VALUE
Is Arsenal’s Devil Cherry Pie worth reading? Hell yes! You’re getting a sexy supernatural love story that’s full of laughter and a few suspenseful moments. The bonus chapter and epilogue are also great additions to tip off the story’s conclusion. Arsenal creates another tale that touches base on a variety of fetishes that’s sure to please hentai fans which gives it a high re-reading value. It’s definitely got my seal of approval.
