Balassa – More the Merrier

Balassa’s works always have that style of their own that’s just a breath of fresh air for me. Where other artists aim to make 3DX as lifelike as possible, Balassa doesn’t. In fact, Balassa’s Tumblr is the antithesis of such hyper-realism. The original works featured have a cross-hatched and painted vibe to it. It allows Balassa’s models to embrace just the composition regardless of the merits of its rendering.

Balassa clearly hones in on how each scene is set up as the biggest selling point. Especially in this piece, all six members have roughly equal screen-space. It really goes to show that there’s never an upper limit to the number of friends one can have for a good time. Every model in the scene is playing at least one, if not two integral roles. The way Balassa pieces the scene together also says a lot. The cast is far from homogeneous from their jewelry to their shows, hairstyles and even makeup. Each model is unique and makes us want to have a better look at them.

Furthemore, for those able to divert their eyes from the action, Balassa also likes to play around with perspectives. His artsy side is revealed when you notice the impossibility of the setting. The optical illusion lies in how the lighting and shadows frame the room. the edges of the floor don’t line up with the corners of the walls at all. Good luck unseeing that!
